...until Hurricane Season Begins.

Home of Reasonable Prices and Great Service

Wow, the Gulf coast of Florida sure is a nice place to live...with white sand beaches, beautiful islands and keys, water-sports galore, awesome golf courses, and lots of great restaurants, shopping, and attractions.  With the 'baby boomers' reaching retirement age now, Florida is still the number one place to retire and enjoy life.

But with all that good stuff comes this thing called WEATHER.  There's just nothing like a sunny spring day with low humidity and puffy white clouds... But then spring turns to summer, the Gulf heats up, the rains start, and the stage is set for HURRICANE SEASON.  Nothing grabs media attention like the drama of a Cat. 5 storm churning its way towards land.

Being prepared with impact protection on all windows and doors, a generator in case of power outages, plenty of water and non-perishable foods, batteries and the rest... does give peace of mind during the storm.  Those who were caught off guard when Charlie cut a path from Punta Gorda to Arcadia and beyond won't make that mistake again!  Many hunkered down in closets or under a stairway, or in the bathtub while flying debris smashed out windows letting in the winds which blew off whole sections of roofing...and then the rains came in causing ceilings to collapse and ruining all the drywall and carpets, not to mention furniture and memorabilia.  One gentleman said the sound was like a jet engine at full throttle!

Storms like Andrew, Charlie, and Katrina caused a revolution in the ways of storm protection.  From new and stricter building codes, the development of impact resistant doors and windows, and new technology applied to the use of shutters.  The old standard Bahama shutter seen everywhere in the Florida Keys and Caribbean Islands has been re-engineered using extruded aluminum and has received the Miami/Dade product approval for impact and wind load while retaining the great tropical look. Roll shutters have been much improved with end-retention systems and heavier extrusions.  The look of the Accordion shutter has come ahead along with new locking systems.  Newer innovations like the aluminum or clear polycarbonate storm panels and convenient track mounts have taken center stage and are included with most new homes.  And most recently, the flexible Hurricane Screens made of trampoline like material, have become quite popular for closing off porches and lanais providing a 'safe area' for pool furniture, plants, and the like.

So whatever your budget or situation, there's a shutter to fill the need.
